The first question to tackle when the owners purchased this home was what to do with the awkward kitchen. Our design goals were to connect the kitchen to the dining room, create a comfortable access to the outside and to the basement, and incorporate the owners modern sensibilities into this 1920s home in a way that would complement the original style of the house. With the addition of new windows, the removal of unnecessary walls and lots of sweat equity from the owners, the new kitchen is now a lovely place to be. The second challenge was to capture some of the ample eave storage upstairs and convert it to living space. With a few feet stolen from the eaves and some minor reconfiguring of the walls upstairs we were able to get a master bath, laundry, 2 bedrooms, and a large open office.
