Overlook

Light and air are so important in built environments.
In a city that is grey for most months of the year, it seems especially prudent to capture all the light and fresh air that we can get. In a 1911 craftsman house such as this, the second floor is not always structured to get high enough walls to take advantage of natural light. Shed dormers can be an efficient way to gain more space. Incorporating a second story dormer with a clerestory is a great way to not only gain space, but also get some light and air movement into those interior second-story spaces.
